The Publicity Club of New York (PCNY) is the oldest ongoing organization for public relations professionals in the country. PCNY started as an informal luncheon club of New York City PR practitioners who met weekly to discuss issues affecting the industry. On April 12, 1940, these meetings were declared part of a formal organization and the Publicity Club of New York was born. Carl Helm served as PCNY’s first President.
Since its start, the Club has been on the cutting edge of change affecting PR practitioners. From its earliest days, PCNY has been dedicated to bringing leading journalists together with PR professionals, and by so doing, help the professional up his or her game.
These monthly “Meet the Media” lunches attract a “who’s who” of senior editorial decision-makers from the leading digital, print, broadcast and other content-driven media organizations. The nearly always sold out luncheons also offer PR pros quality face-time with top-tier journalists and have thus become valuable gatherings for NYC practitioners and beyond.
